How do I get a resale license? When opening a hair salon what legal forms do I need to get? Tax I.D? Resale?
Search ';%26lt;your state%26gt; Department of Revenue';

There is probably a section for ';New business registration'; along with an introduction or how to, etc. Most likely they are very friendly about if even if you contact them by telephone...

You will also need a Federal Tax ID.

Iam opening a nail salon, what kind of business structure do i need?

i am opening a nail salon. i went online to get more info, and the first step was to choose a structure. but there are many:

sole proprietorship

corporations

texas business corporations

texas profesional corporations

limited liability company

what is the best one. i am going to be the only one there working. but i dont want the business to have anything to do with me. if the business goes under i dont want them to come after me and my peronsal things. what would be the best choice?Iam opening a nail salon, what kind of business structure do i need?
The best choice would be a corporation if you don't want any liability at all. Only problem is, you will have to pay unemployment compensation tax on yourself, so it will be extra money out of pocket. For the type of business your end, what is the real risk of someone suing you or you going into an extreme amount of debt? Those risks exist, but they are much lower for some types of businesses. you should consult your insurance agent; if the risk is low, try an LLC instead of a corp.Iam opening a nail salon, what kind of business structure do i need?
An S Corp. It is like being sole prop. but has the liability controls of a regular corp.

You pay yourself a salary and any ';profits'; are taxed at your income rates. You don't pay social security or medicare on the profits portion, so you are effectively saving 15.4% in taxes. Your salary should be an amount similar to what you would pay someone to manage your business. As you can see, there are advantages if you don;t pay yourself too much by saving on the taxes.

As an officer of the corporation you don't need to pay the unemployment taxes. But you should always check with an accountant for your state.

Wheres the BEST tanning salon in Massachusetts?

i want to go indoor tanning for the 1st time, i just want to know wheres a good place thats closer to the Norfolk County area(braintree, randolph, quincy etc.) or in Boston but provides great service. also. how long do i have to tan to get that bronzy color and how does the service work in tanning salons, do you pay per visit or per month?Wheres the BEST tanning salon in Massachusetts?
While I am not in Massachusetts, I hope that I can answer your questions.

As far as finding a salon, I would personally recommend a franchise salon. For example, Planet Beach, Palm Beach Tan, and Sun City Tanning are large chains in my area. Franchises seem to put the most money in training their employees so that they can offer knowledge to their clients. I also get the best service from these companies.

How well you tan indoors really depends on how well you tan outside. If you tend to burn, then the tanning salon associate will need to take that into consideration before letting you tan your first time. I typically let fair skinned clients tans for a low amount of time on their visit. For example, in our Level 2 bed with facial lamps that has a 15 minute maximum, I would allow them to tan no more than 8 minutes. After a few visits, I would increase their time according to their results.

As with outdoor tanning, it is IMPERATIVE that you use protective eyewear. Your eyes can suffer severe and irreversible damage when exposed to UV light. Please buy the eyewear that the salon provides.

When developing your tan, you will see about 80% more result from using an indoor tanning lotion. These lotions have ingredients that stimulate the melanin in your skin, which creates your tan. These can be purchased at your salon and range from $20 - $120 per bottle. You can find a great lotion in the $30-$40 range, so don't be pressured into spending a ton of money on your first visit. I would personally recommend these lotions from the following lines if you have not tanned indoors before:

Bloom or Worship by Designer Skin

Hempz Accelerator or Hydroponic Bronzer by Supre

Frosted Hemp by Swedish Beauty

Hot! by Australian Gold

These brands are carried at most salons nationwide. If your salon offers other brands, stick to an accelerator or something with no more than a triple bronzer for your first time tanning.

Cost differs across the country. At my salon, we have 3 levels of tanning and offer the following prices for monthly, unlimited tanning.

Level 1 - Basic Tanning Bed - 20 min. Max - $35/mo

Level 1 - Students 12th Grade and Under - $25/mo

Level 2 - Bronzing Bed w/ Facials - 15 min. Max - $55/mo

Level 3 - Bronzing Bed or Stand Up - 15 min. Max - $70/mo

Whew. I hope this helps. Good luck and remember that tanning is better when done in moderation. Take time off between visits to allow yourself to really see your results.Wheres the BEST tanning salon in Massachusetts?

How to get that salon look again?

Ok so I got my hair done 2 days ago for school and it looked gorgeous

wonderful now when I do my hair it looks really ugly

I cut my hair like this http://www.dresslikeselena.net/hair/25.p鈥?/a>How to get that salon look again?
Hahaha Heather! I go on this site ALL the time, you know it have instructions right below the pic on how to get it like Selly's right?

But anyways, first wet your hair and shampoo it, like they do at salon's. Then comb through it while it's wet

After that,

Blow dry your hair until all the way dry, Brush your hair and part to the right or left (Which ever you prefer), Put the top half your hair up in a messy bun, and then flat iron the bottom half of you hair. Then you let down your hair and flat iron the rest of you hair.

Brush your hair out once more, and tah-dah!

:D

try it, I promise it works (:How to get that salon look again?
I stand by using a decent shampoo and conditioner. They are the basis for a great style. Depending on your hair type you may want to use a product that creates volume after you wash your hair (while it is still damp). Use a round brush to blow out your hair. This will add volume to your roots and straighten it. You can curl the bottom in one of two ways:

1. When you come to the bottom of your hair (while blow drying it with the round brush) curl the ends vertically and leave the blow dryer on it for a moment to hold the curl.

2. Use a large barreled curling iron.

Use a finishing spray and you are done! Hope this helps!

Yes, they will hurt and you'll feel a little embarrased and uncomfortable at first. make sure the salon / spa hires professional %26amp; qualified staffs as this is a very sensitive area. It was a bit painful, some spots more that others. Yet the results are well worth it and it lasts much longer than shaving. Yes you can have it all removed and no they don't look at you like you're from outer space.

Can A 14 Year Old Girl Work At A Hair Salon?

I want to know if I can work at a hair salon because thats what I mostly like to do and I am good at. Also I want to work at this age because I want to help my parents pay the bills and pay them for everything they have done for me and my sister. Can A 14 Year Old Girl Work At A Hair Salon?
First of all you are so sweet for wanting to help out your parents.

I am a little bit older and started working at 10, it is really fun to noe that you have responsibility.

I am pretty sure that if you apply you could sweep and just help answer phones but I am not sureCan A 14 Year Old Girl Work At A Hair Salon?
quite frankly, my answer was by far more informative...and it has 2 thumbs up as opposed to LA's thumbs down.

call me a sore loser, but you know i'm right.

    whatever...

dont legally unless it is family owned and you are family...then they can even pay you a wage..but if you asked to maybe volenteer your time to sweep hair, clean up etc..maybe some of the girls would chip in some tip money...but due to insurance reasons they cannot legally hire you
The law is different in every state, but in most states at 14 you would need to get a working permit and there would be restrictions on the hours you could work. You should see about getting a working permit first, then you can go into local salons and offer to do sweeping up, or setting up stations, giving women robes and showing them to a chair. No salon can let you cut hair or color as you are not licensed by the state board, but you can at least get some experience and observe that way.
When I was 15, I obtained a working permit, and washed the towels and linnens at a local spa. I knew the manager and she paid me ';under the table';. It was only on Saturdays, for 4 hour shifts. If you're courteous and polite, and know someone on the inside, they may take you on. You just have to ask
    sorry ,no
    Nope.
Most states put restrictions on the number of hours per week a 14 or 15 year old can work, especially during the school year. I would go to the hair salon you wish to work for and inquire. They may hire you as a sweeper, cleaner or even possibly as a shampoo girl or telephone appointment setter. I doubt that you will be allowed to cut hair or work with any of the chemicals, but it would definitely be a great opportunity to observe and learn. You won't know for sure unless you make an effort and ask.
Sorry, but a 14 year old girl can't work anywhere.

In most states, you need to be at least sixteen years old to work.

And, in most cases, hair salons will only hire you if you have completed courses at a cosmetology school or are currently enrolled in one.

What you can do, is start saving up (babysit, walk dogs, tutor) and buying hair dye, make up, etc. and having your own home business for your friends that want to get their hair/makeup done for dances, parties, etc. Also, then you can put together a portfolio of your work as you progress to show your school when you apply, which will show them just how serious you are.

    Best of luck!
you should go to a hair salon and ask them. and show them what you can do and maybe they might hire you. good luck.

How do remove your hair dye if u dnt like dat much already w/o goinq to d salon?

i just really dnt like my blak hair dye already so do u av a way 4 me to remove my hair dye nd nat my hair....cant be baldHow do remove your hair dye if u dnt like dat much already w/o goinq to d salon?
You can buy products that will remove the dye, but you will not go back to your natural color, so don't be surprised. Where do people come up with this ';your hair will fall out'; nonsense? Too much chemicals on your hair will damage it but not fall out. Use the dye stripper and if you don't like the results pick a color you can live with and dye and leave it alone for several weeks. How do remove your hair dye if u dnt like dat much already w/o goinq to d salon?
There's no actual product that gets rid of the color you died it, I'm assuming you used permanent dye. Black is the hardest color to get rid of, every time you wash your hair your washing some of the color out. So just slowly go lighter, that's your best bet, or wait til it grows out, which I wouldn't reccomend, it looks like crap.
You Could try buying a hair dye stripper and just dye it the colour u want

or bleach it then dye it the colour u want.

if u bleach it no promises u wont go bald lol

ATTN GROOMERS: opening a salon next spring, but i've only have worked for one employer...?

I am open to other grooming ideas as far as how employees are paid and how appointments are scheduled. I've only been paid commission and have learned to schedule dogs 2-3 at a time and allow for 3-4 hours total for all 3 dogs together. Has anyone here worked for anyone that will only let you do one dog straight through to cut kennel time out to please clients? Any other methods of grooming scheduling/paying/processes?ATTN GROOMERS: opening a salon next spring, but i've only have worked for one employer...?
I worked for a groomer who would have most of her clients there about 8 am and plan to leave them most of the day. Pick up times did vary some, but she wasn't interupted as much by people constantly coming and going.

I now work for a very large corp. and we schedule hourly. If i'm working 4 hours, I'll let them schedule me 4 dogs. Since drying takes the longest, I'll get a couple bathed and in the dryer. That way I'm free to do a couple more. while those 2 are drying, I finish the first 2. Just make sure you watch the types of dogs you are doing. You don't want 4 Huskies at once or you will never finish. Stagger your types of dogs the right way and you can effectively do a dog an hour.ATTN GROOMERS: opening a salon next spring, but i've only have worked for one employer...?
I worked at a salon that took in dogs in the morning, but also offered a ';Rush'; or ';VIP'; service. It cost up to $15-$25 extra. The good thing is that not all wanted to pay it, but we would get 2 a day and I think that is realistic. Most people want to go run errands or have to go to work so the dogs will be there all day anyway.

As far a paying I have seen it done many ways, but this is how I pay my employees. Bathers/brushers get 5-15% depending on level of skill, of the total grooming cost plus need to be tipped by groomers. Groomers make 45%-60% depending on type of cut and level of skill.

    Good Luck!!
Congratulations! I am so happy you are starting your own place. We schedule by the groomer. Some groomers can do 7 every 4 hours and some 3. All our dogs come in either at 8:00 am or 12:00 noom. The 8's are promised to be out by 12 and the12's go home by 4. We fill out 4';x6'; cards on all dogs. Then we attach a post-it to the card with the groomers name, trim, what time the customer will return or what phone # to call when the dog is ready. May I suggest you go to Barkleigh.com and get the Groomer to Groomer Magazine. It has alot of quality articles. Also the website has a chat room with other groomers that really go out of their ways to help newby's. You may email me if you have more questions. Best of luck,...and enjoy!

Where can I find Health Saftey Standards for a Hair Salon? My sister got head lice!?

I am originally from TX, and everytime i'd go to a hair salon, I'd see these tall vases filled with some blue solution(disenfectant??) that the hairstylists would put the hair brushes/combs in. I now live in KS, and I have YET to see any sort of disenfecting of that type. They use the SAME HAIRBRUSHES ON EVERYONE!!?? My sister has head lice now, and that is the only thing we could think of. Can they be transferred from a hairbrush?? Yes , right? Where can I find a health rules list for hair salons here and who this can be reported to and WHY these places are still open! Thanks!Where can I find Health Saftey Standards for a Hair Salon? My sister got head lice!?
I live in MS. I am a licensed stylist but am not currently working. That blue liquid in the jars is disinfectant. When I was working I was required to clean all implements with soap and water and then soak them in the disinfectant for 10 minutes after every use. Yes, lice can live in brushes for some time. Also, if I found lice I was to immediately stop any work on the infected person and ask them to leave. Licensed salon are routinely inspected by the state board of cosmetology in MS. Here is the website you need to go to.

    accesskansas.org It states the following

';Before use upon a patron, all nonelectrical instruments and equipment shall be disinfected in the following manner:

clean with soap or detergent and water; and

    totally immerse in an EPA-registered, hospital-grade disinfectant with demonstrated bactericidal, fungicidal, and virucidal activity when used according to manufacturer's instructions. ';

There is a form on the website for filing a complaint.

All that said, I might call the salon before I filed a complaint. head lice are very contagious and your sister could have gotten them some where else.Where can I find Health Saftey Standards for a Hair Salon? My sister got head lice!?
You need to contact the State Board for Licensing in that state. Try googling State Board of Cosmetologist and KS, put in your city to narrow the results.

The blue stuff is a disinfectant called Barbicide. If you don't see that, they should hav an autoclave somewhere-that is a piece of equipment that is used to sterilize salon tools and equipment.
Well it's hard to prove she got lice there. But I cannot imagine that they do not disinfect. Did she go back and speak with the hairdresser and what was said?
Yes, lice can be transferred from a hair brush. They can be transferred anytime a single bug or egg comes into contact with a person - from towels, chairs, hair brushes, clothes, being close to someone, etc.

In my state, it's illegal for a salon to work on any person with head lice. In your state, no salon may knowingly work on any person who has a communicable disease which could be transmitted to other patrons. I expect this could include head lice.

In your state, sanitation regulations require that before use upon a patron, all instruments and equipment must be cleansed with either soap and water, or completely submerged in registered, hospital grade disinfectant.

You can visit the Kansas Board of Cosmetology website to learn more about your state regulations. You can also file a complaint with them by following the directions on their site. I'll link below.
use viniger, and ya wash everything, and YA they could be from the brushes, go to the store inspector number and call in a complaint.
Call the ';Department of Professional Business Regulation'; at your state capital. Ask for the cosmetology board. They should be able to help.

I've been a licensed cosmetologist for thirty years.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Should i dye my hair myself or go to a salon?

Anyone can recommend me what colour (dye/highlight) is nice?

TQ~Should i dye my hair myself or go to a salon?
Today you can find excellent products on the market for at home hair color kits. Depends what kind of coverage you need for example if 50% of your hair is grey you need a permanent level 3 coverage. Remember to read all the instructions leaflets with the box you will choose and do the 24 hours test strand to make sure you don't have any allergic reactions. If you just need a subtle change just go one shade lighter than your natural color. Clairol %26amp; L'Oreal have been in the business of haircolor for so many years, you can trust their products.Should i dye my hair myself or go to a salon?
It will ALWAYS look better if you go to a salon. So if you have the money then i suggest getting it done professionally. The difference is that they went to school to do what they are doing so they know what they are doing. You on the other hand do not know what you are doing otherwise you would not be asking. I don't mean to sound mean but get it done professionally. I'm warning you!
salon is better ok your have to pay more money but it will look 100 times better then what it would if you done it your self. depending on what your skin tone is its kinda hard to recommend what colour you should dye or hightlight your hair. i think you should go with natural highlights that blend in with your natural hair colour ask your hair dresser what colour highlights will look natural on you and if your worried about damageing your hair then why not ask for a trim and a hair treatmant to go with your new hair do? for every day use i swear by V05 hot oils there great and stop your hair from drying out and getting damage. best of luck
Let a professional do it!!!!!! Bc you can do alot of damage to your hair from chemicals in the color.

What to do about salon nails?

i was at a party the other day and got a little drunk.. the next day i woke up and i had fake nails.. a few of the girls at the party thought it would be funny to take me to the salon and get some fake nails put on me.. how long do they stay on for? and how do i get them off? What to do about salon nails?
They could stay for quite a while if you're not hard on your nails. To get them off you could soak them in Acetone for about 10 min or so and peel them off... just make sure to buff your nails out to get them smooth again. Even better, go to a salon and have them professionally removed if they are driving you nuts. What to do about salon nails?
Yeah, let's make up somemore stories drunk person. If you did get that drunk, what person would pay for true salon nails their not cheap. The next time you get that drunk maybe they'll get your brows waxed off!
This sounds like a made up story. First of all how did you stay unconscious during that entire thing, how did they carry you into the salon and how did the salon even agree to do nails on an unconscious person?
Easiest way to do this is to go to a salon to get them taken off.

Or you can put your hand in warm water with soap.

And switch to warm water with a nail polish remover.

    Good luck :)
You can go and get them removed at the salon.

    No pun intended.

Or you can cut them and file them down.

They're going to take a while to come off..

    good luck.

I guess you were a little drunk. For true salon nails, it will probably take them about 4 months to grow off completely.

i dont want it like a super light or platinum blonde or anyhting. not such a drastic change. maybe a dirty blonde? i just dont know. i have medium skin tone, not too pale or anything. what do u think would look best? my hair is also long and i have brown eyes if that helps. My hair has been brown for my whole life. what should i ask for at the salon if i want to go blonde?
My daughter had brown hair. She has had blonde streaks in her hair in varying shades (highlights and lowlights) and it looks lovely. Why don't you do the same cos your skin tone and your eyes won't look good if you go pure blonde. I think a nice burgundy colour would look great on you too.

How old do you have to be to tan in a salon?

because, i thought you had to be 16, but if your mom, or gardiean er whatever signs something can't you earlier? How old do you have to be to tan in a salon?
Well I first went tanning when I was twelve and there was no parental consent thing. It kinda depends where you go; desert sun: never asked, but pink coconut wouldn't let me tan. I'm sure you'll be fine, they most likely won't deny you. Have fun:)How old do you have to be to tan in a salon?
It all depends on the Salon;s policies.. sometimes it's 13-14 or even 21... but usually its around 15 so you should be set to get a tan..... and your right aboout the signing agreement.
with parent consent you can go at age 14

How do i get dreadlocks? where can i go a hair salon or what?

please if you can help and be as specific as you can!

thank you ver much. How do i get dreadlocks? where can i go a hair salon or what?
All you do is stop brushing your hair. You must still wash it regularly using a shampoo that leaves no residue. If you want to you could backcomb sections of your hair to get them started, but never use wax or other products as is near impossible to remove and can lead to mould among other things. It takes a long time for dreads to form properly. Expect it to be at least 6 months before your hair even begins to look dreaded.

I've been dreading my hair for about 3 months and this is the best resource I've found on the net.How do i get dreadlocks? where can i go a hair salon or what?
You have to put wax all throughout your hair, and then put it in braids that are the size you want each dread and then use a comb to tease each braid (brush UPWARDS from the bottom of the braid). That's what I've heard. Or don't wash it or brush it and let it go to hell and it'll look like dreads.

    This is more detailed..
    http://www.dreadlocks.com/

you could do it yourself if you want to. there's information all over the internet how.

from what i know, it's sort of a long process of starting out and then getting the finished thing.
Don;t wash your hair, don't brush it. Just forget that hair is on top of your head. Dreads are really dirty. Is that how you want your hair to look!
You just don't brush or wash your hair.

What exactly are those Asian ladies talking about at the nail salon?!?

Of course most of us who have experiences going to the salon know that the women there (usually Asian, not saying always, just usually) always talk to each other in their own language. They'll usually ask personal questions, then they will talk to each other, then ask another question, and they talk to each other again. Does any one know exactly what they are saying? Are they talking crap about the customers as I suspect they do?What exactly are those Asian ladies talking about at the nail salon?!?
I've wondered that also. Your post reminds me of the link I attached. For me, I've had onr particular lady compliment my breast size and even ask if I had implants. I thought that was so bizarre, asking a total stranger about her breasts. And then she tells me to get a size like mine, it would be about 5K.

You're right, though. They ask personal questions, and then they always talk to their neighbor in their language. It's an experience, I'll tell you. And they always try to upsell you on the mud. What exactly are those Asian ladies talking about at the nail salon?!?
Sometimes I wish I could bring in someone that understood what they were saying, but then I am going to be learning Spanish soon. So I will just take in a friend from language classes and talk Spanish about the ladies to each other. (I'll be sure to ask them personal questions first..after they have done my nails :p )
yea, they're talking about YOUR face.

There. Now you have the proof to confront them. Don't worry you won't look like an idiot. We're Americans, they expect it from us. Go ahead and question them about your suspicions.

Don't even question them. Just tell them to stop talking about your face. When they look shocked and quiet down its only because they feel guilty about doing it in the first place.

My hairdresser usually just asks what I'd like done....DO YOU LIKE GETTING YOUR HAIR WASHED AT THE HAIR SALON?
I like getting my hair washed when I am at the hair salon because it washes away the hair strands that are causing irritations on my scalp or skin.

My hairdresser normally asks me if I want a wash or hair gel/mousse/spray.

And I always expect to get charged for a wash but not styling.
yea i certainly do! i mean they give you that silky look with a conditioner and their shampoo, plus its so relaxing they wash it for you and then u dont have to worry about washing ur hair that day, because its already looking and smelling good!;)
i like getting my hair washed at the salon, my hairdresser just tells me to sit down and wait for the person to shampoo my hair

  • Wheres the BEST tanning salon in Massachusetts?

i want to go indoor tanning for the 1st time, i just want to know wheres a good place thats closer to the Norfolk County area(braintree, randolph, quincy etc.) or in Boston but provides great service. also. how long do i have to tan to get that bronzy color and how does the service work in tanning salons, do you pay per visit or per month?Wheres the BEST tanning salon in Massachusetts?

Should i dye my hair myself or go to a salon?

I'm confusing should i dye my hair myself (Cheaper) or go to a salon?

Can anyone tell me what's the differences?

Will it damage my hair if I dye now?

I'm a man with behind hair touch shoulder!

P/S : I just straighten my hair last month !

Bc you can do alot of damage to your hair from chemicals in the color.

if you are doing it for the first time then get it done by a salon..

';Before use upon a patron, all nonelectrical instruments and equipment shall be disinfected in the following manner:

clean with soap or detergent and water; and

    totally immerse in an EPA-registered, hospital-grade disinfectant with demonstrated bactericidal, fungicidal, and virucidal activity when used according to manufacturer's instructions. ';

Can anybody recommend a really good hair and beauty salon in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, UK?

I'm sorry but I have to answer that ignorant b****** of an idiot Dustin. I've just viewed a majority of his arrogant answers putting the U.K down, stating its a 'poor country' and it's embarrasing! The idiot hasn't even been to the U.K and he's a stating a tyrade of rubbish on here! The U.K is the 4th richest country in the world - unfortunately experiencing a credit crunch at present, but it is a beautiful country with lovely landmarks. Maybe Dustin should keep his stupid ideas to himself if he hasn't even experienced it first hand. What an uneducated jerk, how embarassing for him.

You might try Atelier Salon, also well-rated, 1120 King Ave.

Except for Aniara, all this came from the first couple of pages at http://columbus.citysearch.com/listings/鈥?/a> where all the saloon contact information and user reviews are available. You might want to double check there in case I got some number or address mixed up somewhere but I don't think I did.

There are hundreds of choices really, so if so far none of this works you could try the listings at Superpages instead on http://yellowpages.superpages.com/listin鈥?/a>

My information there was limited because no listings came with a website (I used to be an outsourced telemarketer for Superpages and what can I say, most companies either couldn't be bothered to expand their profiles for free when you called or set up a website in the first place).

Hope this helped. By the way, drop me a line sometime. It'd be nice to know how you're doing.

Have you evr worked in a salon before? If so, you would know more about the business and know that there is no set amount you would need. Dying Dyed black hair to blonde through a salon?

I've been dying my light brown hair black for a year now. I'm sick of the black hair. I'd like to at least go back to light brown, but would love to go to blonde.

My hairdresser says it will take up to 6 mo. of continous dying it lighter (which also equals lots and lots of money). I know people who have done it much faster.

Does anyone have stories about dying there dark hair to blonde at a hair salon? Does it really damage the hair that much to do it faster? How did it turn out?Dying Dyed black hair to blonde through a salon?
I can't imagine why it would ever take 6 months! Surely your stylist could do a permanent oxidation remover treatment? Which basically means a permanent colour remover without bleach, like color oops and l'oreal color zap, or goldwell systems remover i hear is the best. Aparently they can be hard to do and if messed up can go darker. But your hair is black - and she's a stylist.

After doing that you should be back to roughly your natural colour, and that would be easy to get blonde. Try googling goldwell systems remover, or color oops etc, and learn about them. Besides, i know people who have gone blonde in less than 6 months from black with just bleaching. Its hard, but if you take care it can be done.

My first piece of advise is to start the process immediately, by stop using colour protecting products, and start using clarifying shampoo and conditioner or head%26amp;shoulders. I faded my black hair off so much by putting head%26amp;shoulders on to dry hair and leaving it 10 mins. It itches a little, so don't worry about that if that happens. Head%26amp;shoulders has high levels of sulphates, so will fade it.

Having personally bleached my fringe from faded dark brown (so medium brown) to a yellow-ish colour, then bleaching it 3 months later to a much paler colour, you shouldn't have to wait 6 months. I could have done it sooner really, i was just lazy.Dying Dyed black hair to blonde through a salon?
My friend with light brown hair dyed it black and had that colour for a year, and she has just recentally dyed it blonde again and she did it by herself. It's gone kinda orange so I would say stick with the colour you have.

Oh and also my other friend dyed her hair black and her natural colour was light brown aswell and she went to the salon to get it dyed back to blonde and it cost her 拢150 and after a week the black started to come through again.

    x
My sister dyed her hair a week ago and before that she had dyed her hair black last year and has been black for a year she chops and changes every year from black to blonde. Her hair dresser just tinted her hair and applied the bleach and voila it was blonde. But she wasnt happy bcos it came out a sort of orangey colour so the following week she bleached it again and it came out playboy blonde. Just change your hairdresser and tell them this story!!...good luck

  • My hair is Blonde right now but if i die it light brown at the salon by a pro will it have a red tint?

because i have friends who are naturally light brown who hair turns redish in the sun will mine do that?My hair is Blonde right now but if i die it light brown at the salon by a pro will it have a red tint?
Hair stylist to the rescue~ your hair shouldn't turn redish, however you do need a little hint so that your hair will look natural and not one solid blah color-that looks fake. Good Luck! P.S. You die clothes~you color hair:)My hair is Blonde right now but if i die it light brown at the salon by a pro will it have a red tint?
i dont think so, if its done by a pro then it shouldn't
Yes, I would advise against it. My friend died her hair from blonde to light brown and it looks like a carrot in the front, in every light. and she got it done by a professional too. So if i were you, i wouldn't do it.
no, i am 11 and i dyed my hair platinm blonde, the dyed it black, there was no red!!!!! I KNOW, I AM A WILD CHILD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!
So your hair is dead! ';I die it';.
I have blonde hair that turns blonder with the sun but in the winter I sometimes go for a darker shade of blonde or brunette, the way you contemplate. Absolutely, the choice of which color of brown is important because the sun will bring out the red highlights, particularly the more you wash it.

When you get into the Golden Browns, you have a higher chance of red coming out such that it can look brassy. I still prefer Golden Brown to other kinds of brown so I still use that color and try to moderate how much direct sun I take.

If reddish highlights are an absolute turn off, then go for Ash colors of Blonde or Brown. This comes in Light, Medium, and Dark Ash Blonde/Brunette/Brown as does Golden Blonde and Brown. Avoid the Gold / Go for Ash.
not if ur hair is done professionally
no, it shouldn't. not if you get a good stylist and good quality dye
Go to a professional who you have heard good things about. They're not all the same calibre. But the pros tend to have better stuff to work with than you can buy yourself, so if you're worried about getting a funky color, just find someone you can trust (well recommended).
A girl at my school did that last year. her hair is naturally light brown and she's always died it bleach blonde and then she tried to dye it a little darker than her natural color (all of her coloring was done at a really nice salon) and it turned a weird orange-ish color. and then she had to be in our school play later that night so everyone saw it for the first time while she was on stage and made fun of her wig until she could convince them it was her real, messed up hair.

so yeah I might not do that if I were you...?
it depends on what color they use

my friend got hers dyed and a couple hours afterwards it started turning red so that same day we went back and had to redo it
No, it will be light brown. If you want red, ask for red.
Nope.. if you DIE it, you become bald!
I would ask a professionall, mine always has a red hint when I dye it at home.
When you go to a salon, if you tell them exactly what you want they can usually do it without messing it up. Good luck!

    Can you help me? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
no it will not turn red i had blonde hair then i died it light brown with red streaks and it turned out perfect ur hair will look great if u color it that way..
Their hair does that because they have natural red highlights.

If you don't have red highlights then your hair won't do that.

For me it is impossible to go from brown to blonde because of all the red in my hair. The blonde always turns out a nasty yellowy gold even with hours of bleaching.

I just opened a new tanning salon and need some ideas on how to get people into my salon?

Pass out colorful flourescent color flyers in front of bars and nightclubs at night...advertise one free tan, or a 1/2 price tan for the first visit.I just opened a new tanning salon and need some ideas on how to get people into my salon?
Advertise at the nearest universities by posting fliers, etc.

Umpf your advertising around special occasions, especially prom.

Team up with local radio stations and offer your services for free as prizes for contests.

Create a MySpace account; young people spend hours there!I just opened a new tanning salon and need some ideas on how to get people into my salon?
Find a couple good looking girls and guys. Put them in swim suits and have them stand out front and wave at people. Play some ';surf music';. Invite a photographer to take some pictures of everyone standing out front. Use the best pictures to put into a local paper. Maybe once a month throw a ';beach party'; Invite the same people to mingle with customers. Maybe get some bubble machines and water guns and just try to get everyone to have fun. Also make sure that no customer leaves without something in there hands that advertises your name. For instance a beach towel or beach bag or *cough* a T-shirt.

    Good luck!
I just recently opened a tanning salon in April, also.

    Congratulations!!!

Try running a Grand Opening and selling raffling tickets for a dollar and raffling off a year of tanning with tanning lotion. Or hand out One Free Tan Coupons to get people in the doors!

Try o advertise as much as possible, radio ads, commercials, etc. You can also get t-shirts made with your salon's logo on them and hand them out to people when they purchase a month. This will give the customer incentive to come in and if they wear the shirt it's free advertisement!

Since it is close to homecoming try to run a homecoming special.

    Good Luck
I would say creating special offers and targeting your tanning audience would help out a lot.

For example, millions of teens are OBSESSED with tanning. So you could create flyers and distribute them to the stores at a local mall (because tons of teens work at malls). There is a tanning salon right next to the mall I work at, and they offer a small discount for the mall's employees. The owner made an informational flyer and just passed them out to each store. This would work for any large business near your salon. Or if there is a high school and/or college nearby, you could offer a student discount.

Also, just general savings offers would probably generate a customer flow. For example, for people who don't have a monthly membership, you could make a coupon for buy one tanning session, get one free.

What is a BLOW OUT at the hair salon?

Will my hairdresser shampoo my hair? What is a BLOW OUT at the hair salon?
Yes. It is a shampoo and conditioning, and a style. Usually this means you'll have your hair blow-dried for you while your stylist styles it. Sometimes if you want it flat ironed or curled this will be an additional charge. What is a BLOW OUT at the hair salon?
A blow out is when they shampoo your hair and then blow dry it to style it down. Keep in mind that styling it up or curled is separate. When they ';blow out'; your hair, they just do it down. Natural. Like when you go for a hair cut. Some salons might flat iron it as well, but it really depends on them (like if they're feeling nice OR if it's part of their salon's routine to go beyond the expected). SOME salons might not shampoo your hair; they might just spray it down with water. THOSE are the types of salons to avoid. If in doubt, call them first to make sure they shampoo your hair, 'cause sometimes you can't be too sure. Hope this helps!
basically it means after the wash and cut your hair they will blow it dry. Probably they will style it for you to.

    ...
he will give you the zohan treatment

I get paid on commision only .if i dont have a client and demanded to clean the salon should i get paid?

Legally can they make me work and not pay me an hourly wage.I get paid on commision only .if i dont have a client and demanded to clean the salon should i get paid?
It depends on the type of relationship established between the company and you. If you are an ';employee'; compensated by commission then the answer is probably yes they can, provided it is not too far outside the realm of your duties. For example, you wouldn't ask the head of accounting of a large company to mow your lawn if you're the CEO, would you?

If you are an independent contractor, such as a real estate agent, etc then they cannot. One way for you to determine which relationship you have with them is whether they take federal and state taxes out of your paychecks (in which case you're likely an employee), and whether or not you were required to sign a contract stating that you are not an employee, but an independent contractor.

Is it okay to highlight and perm your hair in the same visit to the salon?

Would that kill my hair??Is it okay to highlight and perm your hair in the same visit to the salon?
No def not. When you go to the salon they will tell you. You will have to wait 2 - 4 weeks after perm to color your hair or it will fry it an damage it, it could also cause breakage. Is it okay to highlight and perm your hair in the same visit to the salon?
no u will have to do the perm first than wait at least 2 weeks to get the highlights, its really bad for ur hair to do both on the same day...GL

Who to hire for a full service salon?

I need to know what different services I should provide at my salon and how many special employees I would need to hire.

I only have 8 to 10 stations for hair stylists if that matters.

    thank you so much.

10 free points to a reasonable answer. :)Who to hire for a full service salon?
Find some competitors outside of your area that call themselves full service salons. Schedule a day or two checking out their set ups. You can do some of it online, but that will not show you how well things work in reality. You will also want to see their floor plans and the size of the shops.

You will need to hire specialists for the new equipment you decide to add. Best to hire those that specialize in multiple fields so you can give days off or handle sick employees. Or you can encourage your current employees to get training for new services you add.

Would a female hairdresser at a hair salon be able to tell a guy what hairstyles are ';in, in style'; at current

Would a female hairdresser (working) at a hair salon, be able to tell a guy what hairstyles are ';in, in style'; at current (the present?)

I feel as though, I would sound silly if I walked into a salon and asked a staff member there something like for instance: ';Hi, would there be a hairdresser here, who could tell me what hairstyles are in, (in style/if not popular) at the moment?Would a female hairdresser at a hair salon be able to tell a guy what hairstyles are ';in, in style'; at current
Of course she could, it's her jobWould a female hairdresser at a hair salon be able to tell a guy what hairstyles are ';in, in style'; at current
Thats her job, shed probz love creating a new style for you and you'd be left looking stylish and cool :P LuxXx
well she is a woman. and im sure a woman could tell you what looks good on a man. unless shes a lesbiean. so i guess you could look at it that way
i know this sucks as a dude, but trust me, ask a gay guy. they cut better hair. Plus theyre more better at judging fashion then women. i know it sucks, i didnt beleive it until i saw it.
I think she can, but if you get into a salon and out of the blue you ask so, it would sound weird!

anyway, more than an in haircut you should get one that matches your face shape!
Don't feel silly asking a hairdresser that question, that's a totally normal question to ask them at anytime. It's their job to know whats in at the moment. If you go a salon that is a little more trendy and a bit more expensive, they will be able to tell you about all the latest styles this season and help you choose one that will suit you best. Just make an appointment and go in.
They will tell you; yes; here's the correct way: Call and tell them what you need ';My hair isn't in the best condition; can you set me up with someone who can help me';? This way, you don't have to go into great detail and it gives them an idean of whom would be able to work on your hair; THEN you can tell them what the problem is and and they can suggest/work with you on a style. They're professionals and get paid to do it; so go for it!
Thats why we go to classes to keep up on that sort of stuff!!! The person will know!Go to a trendy salon stay out of the mom and pop ones!
DON'T FEEL LIKE YOU WOULD SOUND SILLY IF YOU WALKED INTO A SALON AND ASKED, THAT IS WHAT THE STYLIST IS THERE FOR. TO GIVE YOU THE STYLE THAT YOU WANT. AND IF THEY KEEP UP WITH HAIR STYLES, THEY SHOULD KNOW. AND THE ONLY WAY THAT THEY CAN DO IT IS IF YOU TELL THEM OR ASK THEM IF THAT STYLE WOULD LOOK GOOD ON YOU.
Yes we sure can. We are here to help you in any styles. We love to suggest things to our clients. Dont worry about asking for help. Good Luck to your new style.
Hair dressers (I live with one) Spend a lot of time looking at fashion magazines. They will find a style that fits your time and hairs needs. They might look at your hair and think it to thick or thin for certian hair cuts. This is what they are paid to do. I would go to a nice Salon where the people are dressed appropriately. Don't go to walmart or some cheap place they will not do as nice of job. Especially since Those types of places hire fresh out of school hair dressers and you want some who has been working at least 5 years.
Of course she'd know the ';in'; styles for men! Just because she lacks a y chromosome it doesn't mean she's clueless as to what men are wearing as far as hairstyles.
That's what they are there for. Go in and tell them to make you pretty! (Have them trim up that uni-brow too, there's no excuse for that.)
If a female hairdresser cares about her craft, she would be able to know what was in for both females and males. If they are from a small town like me, both genders get mullets, though I would like to admit, there is nothing hotter than a woman with a nice she-mullet.
yeah it's their job to know
Female hairdressers cut men's hair too. It is part of their job to be able to advise their clients. I would think that they would know more than anyone else which hairstyles are ';in';.

Good luck! I don't think you would sound silly at all - I'm sure they've heard some really strange questions at some point!
Why wouldnt she know?! Its pretty much a hair stylists job to keep up with the latest trends and techniques. Also, just open up a magazine and look at all the models. Find a picture you like and bring it in.
no this is not silly its a good idea acctually because girls now what they like in a guy and they no how the hair should look its just a girl thing

Where can I find a clinic or salon that offers this laser IPL treatment?

    http://www.hadleighclinic.com/treatments鈥?/a>

I'm looking for a clinic that offers this treatment that's near Cardiff. Anyone know of anywhere? This is the only place I have found and is too far for me to travel to. I want this treatment to get rid of my blackheads I have had for about 13 years!Where can I find a clinic or salon that offers this laser IPL treatment?
go to www.isolaz.com and then to locator for a directory on physicians who perform this in your area... it is an acne laser. I performed these treatments on numerous patients at the dermatologist I worked for

note: the isolaz uses suction and light so if the black head is very close to the surface it will work but if they are deeper they should be extracted with a special tool during the treatment by a licensed esthetician, nurse OR the doctor

Can anyone recommend a good affordable Hair Salon in the Tacoma, WA area?

I need to get my highlights either redone or completely taken out, but don't want to pay too much. I also don't want someone that will mess my hair up either. Thank you.Can anyone recommend a good affordable Hair Salon in the Tacoma, WA area?
See if there is a ';proffesional salon academy'; there. It's so cheap there cause all the stuff is done by students, but they have to take a 2-month course before they can even think about working with the customers. I've been going there for a few years and they still haven't messed anything up. They do nails and facials too.Can anyone recommend a good affordable Hair Salon in the Tacoma, WA area?
Hah, I don't live in Tacoma I live up in Oak Harbor

What do I do at a tanning salon?

I've never been to a tanning salon before, but the weather is not getting sunny where I live and I want to get a nice tan before I leave on vacation in a few weeks. What do I do when I'm there? Like, what do I tell the person what to choose or whatever? I naturally have a darker shade of skin, so tanning isn't that hard for me, so what time should I ask the person to set the booth for? What do I do at a tanning salon?
You make yourself tanner. What do I do at a tanning salon?
ooo i love tanning! it's sooo nice and warm in the little beds! i love it!

just walk in there, depending on what place you go you might have to buy a monthly package but some places you can buy minutes packages. for your first time i'd go for ten minutes at the most, because no one wants a burn. and no matter how well you tan, your first time in a tanning bed if you go too long will burn you. so try ten for like the first two times, then jump up to twenty if everything is going fine. tanning lotions reallyy help your skin stay healthier and they get you darker faster, you can buy samples at the tanning salon. good luck!

B.What salon brand would you recommend for Wavy Hair?
I LOVE bed head products, I have wavy hair and use the mosture maniac shampoo and conditionair, also the cat walk (turquois bottle) for curly hair rocks! if you find frizz try AG leave in conditioner. Its awesome but be careful not to put too much in, it can get greasy so leave it in the tips!
Paul Mitchell Super Skinny line is really good! It has a wonderful shampoo, conditioner and super skinny serum that leaves your hair conditioned, shiny and very manageable
salon brand: Kerastase! i love their products

drug store brand: Soap and Glory. it's marvellous.. the Hair Supply Conditioner works wonder!

Have you ever been to the nail salon and they are talking in chineses ?

but when they are in there and they talk in chineses so they can,t hear you and what if they were talking about you what would you do ????? if they said something about you in a negative way?Have you ever been to the nail salon and they are talking in chineses ?
Yes I have. What I don't care if they are talking about me, because they are working for me when their doing my nails. I'm giving them their pay check so to speak. I don't assume that they are talking about me anyway. I just think their talking about their day or something they read in the paper!Have you ever been to the nail salon and they are talking in chineses ?
That's what hair dryers are for. Stick your head in one and U don't hear anything/
That drives me nuts, between the talking and then they might look up and smile. Most likely they are saying nothing about you but then again I guess we'll never really know. Perhaps someone should learn Chinese and play dumb so that we can finally get the truth...lol...Oh what we go through to look nice...lol...Thanx for posting the question I thought I was the only one who noticed this....
Hah, I remember that from a seinfeld episode... they were saying your feet smell.... sorry :)
Yes and it drives me nuts. You know they are talking about you and everybody else in there. That is disrespectful and they need to watch it because someone might be able to speak Chinese and know everything they are saying.
stop being racist you damn ********* e s. What makes you think they're talking about you? they might be talking about your ugly mom
    YES! I have always just wanted to learn one phrase in their language, something like, ';I can understand what you are saying, because I can speake...chinese or vietnamese etc%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;';
All the time. Matter of fact I'm going to the nail salon today and I guarantee it will happen again.
yeah it's worse when they dont start talking chinese until they take off your shoe to start your pedicure.

    b!tc# i don't have ugly feet!
yes it was kind of scary/freaky.
If I feel they are talking about me, here's what I do (may be mean, but they will learn)...when they seat me in the area to dry my hands and toes under the heat lamp (make sure they are done servacing you), and they run your card to charge you, I don't tip and make a note on their copy that says LEARN ENGLISH! Like I said, may be rude...I know I am not there to talk with them, but they can be a little more generous...geez
yep i know what u mean
let them speak without caring for
