Is it appropriate to tip the owner of a salon when she is providing the service?

The owner of the salon does my facial. Should I tip her? Between the facial and the products that I purchase it sometimes costs 200.00.Is it appropriate to tip the owner of a salon when she is providing the service?
I found this :

Tipping the Owner

This is the question I get asked most via email - should you tip the owner of a company when he or she provides your service. The answer used to be no. Now it is yes.

I also found some info on amounts to tip:

one operator 15% of bill

several operators 10% of bill to person who sets hair; 10% divided among others

manicurist $1 or more, depending on cost

owner none unless he / she is doing your hair / providing a service, then follow above rules

person who shampoos or washes hair - $1 - $2

You shouldn't tip her based on the products - just 15% of what she charges for doing your facial.

So if it's $100 for your facial ( for instance) you should give her a $15 tip.... A $50 facial, $7.50 tip, etc.

I hope this helps...Is it appropriate to tip the owner of a salon when she is providing the service?
If you are happy with a service it is always proper etiquette to tip the person that performed it.
I don't think you need to tip the owner of a beauty salon, period.
If the owner is regularly working the same as any other employee, then yes, it is appropriate to tip her the same as any other employee.

If the owner only occasionally sees clients as a ';special treat,'; then no, it is not usual to tip her.
Well if u are satisfied with her work done to u, then once in a while like everyother time (if u go often) tip her about 10-20 dollars. But if u arent satisfied everytime then just give her a cheaper tip and let her know that u want ';this'; done better. Hope this will help u!
I understand that it is not necessary to tip the owner, since she's keeping the entire cost of the service anyway. Especially if you are a regular and you purchase additional products, I'd say you don't need to tip every time. If you want to do something nice for her, maybe consider a gift card for coffee or something like that for her birthday or a holiday.
