Is tipping at a restaurant different than tipping at a hair salon?

I'm a server and I know that you should double the tax and even a little more when you go out to eat at a restaurant. but I'm getting my hair done soon and It's going to cost me $140. so what is a good tip? I was thinking $20....Is tipping at a restaurant different than tipping at a hair salon?
15-20% is the tip for a restaurant. 15% of $140 is $21 so a $20 tip should be just about okIs tipping at a restaurant different than tipping at a hair salon?
well if ure in the service industry it's all about the tips. you may be paying 140 I'm sure the stylist isn't even getting half of that. doubling the tax is a lazy way to do a tip n is only good in states where the tax is at least 8%

for good service I always give at least 20% tip... I never give less then 15% unless the service is so bad - so so bad- and then I would even take into account why it was bad.

10% of 140 is 14 dollars double that and you get 28, half that and you get 21 so your 20$ isn't even 15%

tips should be based on the quality of the service you get but remember that people in the service industry aren't usually getting what you are paying, most of what you pay goes to the owner not the stylist, waiter, waitress etc or the person who is doing the actual work

that's in my humble opinion lol
that's more than enough.

help me out for an easy 10 pts?

Well my haircut cost about $30-35 and I tipped her 5 or so dollars (basically rounded it up to $40) and she seemed pleasantly surprised with that.
$20 is a great tip or even $25. $140 is a lot for a haircut you are giving the stylist business so twenty bucks is plenty
You don't have to tip at a salon. but should you want to $20 is cool
