I want to use salon grade die, what do i need to buy from the beauty supply?

I want to die my hair myself but i need to know what to get when i go to the beauty supplyI want to use salon grade die, what do i need to buy from the beauty supply?
I think you should just go to the supply place and ask one of the employees. They'd be better at telling you what to get than me.I want to use salon grade die, what do i need to buy from the beauty supply?
only licensed cosmetologist can buy '; salon grade '; color. if you know someone with license's ask them to get it and use it for you. If they get caught buying it and giving it to non licensed persons, they are risking losing their license's.
first off what is your natural color??are you going lighter or darker, adding highlights, or allover color. I would recommend something that is semi permanent, so if you don't like it, It will only last about 2-4 weeks, they also make color that fades when you shampoo
Anytime I go to the supply shop and have questions I ask the people who work there....they should be able to help you there in the store.

Each brand is different some come with chemicals mixed in....others you have to buy everything seperately. Keep that in mind.
You can only buy ';salon-grade'; color at a professional supply house. If you're buying color anywhere else you're getting metallics and other added chemicals that are damaging to your hair. (which is why they are cheaper than salon color is) If you're looking to color your hair, it'd be best for you to either use a demi-permenant color (semi-permenant) that will fade out of your hair instead of you having to try to re-color it if you don't like the color. Pulling a dark color out of your hair can ravage it and it's not worth it!!

If you have noone to buy you professional hair color, you should pick a color that you like, (whatever the picture of the color on the box is, that color was put on white-blonde hair to get that color, so unless your hair is white-blonde, it won't be that exact shade.) When you figure out what color you like, pick the box of color that is one or two shades lighter than the box color you like. Most of the box colors will turn out much darker than the box shows (and again, they're super-hard to pull out of your hair!).

If you don't want to wreck your hair, you should have a stylist do it first and be honest with him/her, tell them you plan to do it at home the next time and have them recommend something to use that will match what they've used on you. Stylists are trained to know what color type and shades will do on your specific type of hair. If you make a mistake coloring your hair, it's not easy to get back what you started with. Good Luck!

P.S.- If you can't get true professional hair color, I'd buy Redken Shades EQ Hair color off e-bay (make sure you also purchase the developer). It's a hair color that will fade from your hair over the course of a few months, so you will return back to your natural color if the color you choose wasn't what you hoped it would be. That's what I use so if I ever decide to do something crazy, I can and I don't have to mangle my hair to get it back to the natural color I love. I just have to wash and wait a few months or pick another pretty color to try! Good Luck!
To buy anything other than at a Sally or Ricky's you must show your Cosmetology license. Also remember the trick to great hair color is only part the product- the rest is the application, formulation and timing. A professional color done improperly will also give horrible results. Best of luck to you.
